The Placemaking Kit - Tāmaki Makaurau

The Placemaking Kit is a box of useful resources and tools available to borrow and use in Tāmaki Makaurau.

It was developed for people from all levels of knowledge of placemaking who want to make public spaces in their neighbourhood or local community better places to live, work and play in. The kit helps you better understand placemaking, the space you want to activate and the communities who use the space so you come up with your best ideas and develop these with others then make them happen!

The heart of the kit is a Handbook and four decks of cards that support activities that can be run in small or large groups (or on your own if you want!) There are materials for you to play with to help with the activities too, and some things to plan your activation out on site too.

To borrow the kit, please, fill in the request form.

Catalyse is kaitiaki of the kits so contact them if you have any questions about how to use the kit, get in touch via connect@catalyse.co.nz.

Not in Tāmaki Makaurau?

While the Kit was designed for and by placemakers in Tāmaki Makaurau, we are super happy for people anywhere to use and adapt the resource.

Placemaking Kits have been available in Tāmaki Makaurau since 2018 and the resources in them have been updated several times. These resources are the third versions and are free to download and print by anyone.

You can find digital resources on the Learn page. They have been set up to be easily printed double-sided on A4 paper or cardstock in colour or black & white.

Note: Please credit the makers if you adapt them in any way and share what you do – we’d love to see!
