Lots of you already know heaps about placemaking but not everyone knows each other so we have been profiling some of you. Here is the lovely Yana from Papaya Stories.

Turns out placemaking means all sorts of things to people! And many of us were doing it before we knew it was called placemaking too. So we thought we’d focus our opening event on delving deeper into that. “Making Place in Tāmaki Makaurau” is where we can hear about how placemaking links to history, visibility, privilege, social justice, soul and survival.

We will hear five inspiring and diverse perspectives from Lucy Tukua, Paul Walsh, Jia Luo, Nina Patel and Ryan Reynolds on making place in Tamaki Makaurau and explore together how we do placemaking well, what are the key ingredients, and what do we already have right here, right now in Tāmaki Makaurau to step it up !

It’s free but tickets are limited - get yours here today !

Other activations and events happening in Placemaking Week are starting to go up on the map - check them out! And add yours too!

We know loads of placemaking goes on around the city all the time and are keen to showcase activations done specially for Placemaking week or something that is happening anyway.

Let’s showcase a week of placemaking across Tamaki Makaurau in all its shapes and sizes and make our neighbourhoods more like the places we want them to be !
